In order to improve menu & catalog data quality, DoorDash enable merchant and internal operators with tools to manage menu data. I led a series of 0-1 initiaves including allowing merchat to manage inventory, upload photos, and allow operation teams to audit data quality issues on daily basis.

Challenge

Before tooling available to users, both merchant and internal team heavily rely on spreadsheet for communciation, task management, and fix data issues, resulting average of 7 days of turnaround time to update an item. The goal is reduce item update time and scale operator teams.

Objective

Merchant inventory manager allows grocery & alcohol merchant to upload CSV, manage price & item availability. Catalog quality manager (internal operator facing) provide more advanced functionabilities such as edit SKU, mark wrong field, and SKU item comparison.

Results

Improved 3%+ data accuracy and 2x speed on catalog data (internal). Reduced 5% merchant inventory update inbound. Reduced time to update item from 7 days to 48 hours.
